I recently came across a book called Holy Hygge by Jamie Erickson. It was my first introduction to the Danish word, hygge. As I read, it felt like language to a certain home and a heartbeat that is written in me. For a longer description click here. For the short of it, hygge wraps around an “ability to build community, to invite closeness, to create well-being and to celebrate the every day… It invites you to enjoy the simple pleasures of slow living, savored moments, and fostered friendships… Hygge is the opposite of hustle. It eschews overabundance. It savors. It takes things slow and envelops you in sanctuary.”
